Bob's Metals was founded by Bob and Idelle Weinstein as a one-man operation serving local Portland businesses. Through honest dealing, integrity, and competitive pricing, Bob built a reputation that stands to this day.

Bob grew up in scrap metal — working yards through high school and college before earning his degree from the University of Oregon. He brought 17 years of experience to our first location under the Ross Island Bridge.

Today, we operate a 14-acre state-of-the-art facility in North Portland with material handlers, mobile shears, balers, and metallurgical analyzers. The second generation of Weinsteins continues the legacy of service, now reaching customers domestically and around the world via truck, rail, and container ship.

Zero Discharge Facility

Bob's Metals has made a significant investment in environmental stewardship through our 300 GPM electrocoagulation stormwater treatment center. We collect runoff from our entire 14-acre site and use advanced filtration to remove suspended solids, heavy metals, oils, and contaminants.

One of the only zero-discharge scrap metal facilities in the United States

Treated stormwater returns to the ground through a DEQ-approved Underground Infiltration Gallery, protecting freshwater aquifers and eliminating off-site discharge entirely.
